Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (230g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup (165g) packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups (280g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together 2 1/4 cups (280g) all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat 1 cup (230g) softened unsalted butter, 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar, and 3/4 cup (165g) packed brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  4. Beat in 2 large eggs, one at a time, followed by 2 teaspoons vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Stir in 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips using a spatula.
  7. Scoop out dough using a cookie scoop or tablespoon and roll into balls. Place them about 2 inches apart on your prepared baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. Don’t overbake—cookies will continue to set as they cool.
  9. Let cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.

Notes

[‘Don’t overmix the dough to avoid tough cookies.’, ‘Ensure butter and eggs are at room temperature for a smoother dough.’, ‘Chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking for thicker cookies.’, ‘Take cookies out when edges are golden but centers look slightly underbaked—they’ll firm up as they cool.’, ‘Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor.’]
