A quick and easy whipped coffee recipe that creates a fluffy, golden froth atop cold milk, perfect for a cozy pick-me-up or impressing friends.

  • 2 tablespoons instant coffee (medium roast recommended)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (white sugar or coconut sugar as a substitute)
  • 2 tablespoons hot water (freshly boiled)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) milk (whole milk for creaminess, or almond/oat milk for dairy-free)
  • Ice cubes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Measure 2 tablespoons each of instant coffee, sugar, and hot water.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine instant coffee, granulated sugar, and hot water to dissolve.
  3. Using an electric hand mixer on medium-high speed, whip the mixture for 3-5 minutes until thick, glossy, and stiff peaks form. If whisking by hand, whisk vigorously for 8-10 minutes.
  4. Fill a glass with 1 cup (240 ml) of milk and add ice cubes if desired.
  5. Spoon the whipped coffee froth gently over the milk.
  6. Stir gently before drinking to blend the froth with the milk.

Notes

Use hot water to fully dissolve coffee and sugar before whipping to avoid grainy texture. Medium-high mixer speed is best. For dairy-free, use almond or oat milk. Sugar substitutes may affect froth stability. Whipping by hand requires patience and effort.
