A quick and easy dessert salad combining sweet crushed pineapple, fluffy marshmallow fluff, tangy cream cheese, and crunchy salty pretzels for a crowd-pleasing treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups small pretzel twists or sticks
  • 1 (20-ounce) can crushed pineapple, drained (reserve about 2 tablespoons juice)
  • 1 cup marshmallow fluff
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 8 ounces whipped topping (such as Cool Whip)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Instructions

  1. Crush about 2 cups of pretzels into bite-sized pieces, leaving 1 cup whole for topping. Set aside.
  2. Drain the crushed pineapple, reserving about 2 tablespoons of juice.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with granulated sugar until smooth and creamy (about 2-3 minutes with an electric mixer).
  4. Fold in the marshmallow fluff and vanilla extract gently until combined but still light and airy.
  5. Carefully fold in the whipped topping to maintain fluffiness, avoiding overmixing.
  6. Gently fold in the drained crushed pineapple and crushed pretzels.
  7. If using, fold in chopped pecans or walnuts.
  8. Transfer the salad to a serving bowl and sprinkle the reserved whole pretzels on top.
  9. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to let flavors meld and keep pretzels crunchy.

Notes

Soften cream cheese to room temperature before mixing to avoid lumps. Fold whipped topping and marshmallow fluff gently to keep salad light and airy. Drain pineapple well to prevent sogginess. Add reserved whole pretzels just before serving to maintain crunch. Can substitute dairy-free and gluten-free ingredients for dietary needs.
