  • 8 to 10 thin-cut bacon slices
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Toothpicks or kitchen twine for securing bundles

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup.
  2. Trim the asparagus by snapping off the woody ends, about 1 to 2 inches from the bottom.
  3. In a mixing bowl, toss the asparagus with olive oil, garlic powder, black pepper, smoked paprika (if using), and a pinch of sea salt until evenly coated.
  4. Divide the asparagus into bundles of about 4 to 5 spears each.
  5. Wrap each bundle tightly with one slice of bacon, spiraling from bottom to top. Secure with a toothpick or kitchen twine.
  6. Place the bundles seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, turning bundles halfway through, until bacon is golden and crispy and asparagus is tender but firm.
  8. Remove from oven and let rest for 2 to 3 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use thin-cut bacon for best results. Turn bundles halfway through baking for even crispness. If bacon isn’t crisping enough, broil for 1-2 minutes watching carefully. Avoid overcrowding the pan to ensure proper crisping. Thicker asparagus may require additional cooking time.
