A quick and easy homemade snack featuring toasted baguette slices topped with creamy butter, thinly sliced radishes, and flaky sea salt for a crunchy, flavorful bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 small baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 34 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 68 medium radishes, washed and thinly sliced
  • A generous pinch of flaky sea salt (e.g., Maldon sea salt flakes)
  • Fresh cracked black pepper (optional)
  • Fresh herbs like thyme or parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Slice the baguette into about 1/2-inch thick slices. Slightly stale bread works best for crispiness.
  3. Arrange the bread slices in a single layer on the baking sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crisp around the edges but still slightly soft in the center.
  4. While the bread toasts, thinly slice the radishes using a mandoline or sharp knife.
  5. Spread about 1 teaspoon (5 g) of softened unsalted butter on each warm crostini.
  6. Layer 3-4 thin radish slices on each buttered crostini without overcrowding.
  7. Sprinkle flaky sea salt generously over each crostini. Add fresh cracked black pepper if desired.
  8. Garnish with fresh thyme or parsley leaves if using.
  9. Serve immediately while the bread is still crisp and the butter slightly melty.

Notes

Use slightly stale bread for better crispiness. Soften butter to room temperature for easy spreading. Thinly slice radishes for best texture. Toast bread carefully to avoid burning. Optionally rub toasted bread with garlic for extra flavor. Store bread and toppings separately if making ahead to keep crostini crispy.
