These pinwheel wraps combine everything bagel seasoning, cream cheese, and fresh spinach rolled in a tortilla for a quick, flavorful snack or appetizer. Ready in about 15 minutes, they are perfect for entertaining or a light meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large flour tortillas (10-inch/25 cm)
  • 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups fresh spinach, packed and roughly chopped (about 60 g)
  • 2 tablespoons everything bagel seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Zest of half a lemon
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Optional add-ins: 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill or chives, pinch of red pepper flakes, sliced smoked salmon

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese by leaving it at room temperature for about 20 minutes or microwaving in 10-second bursts until spreadable but not melted.
  2. Rinse and pat dry the fresh spinach, then roughly chop it into smaller pieces.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, everything bagel seasoning, garlic powder, lemon zest, salt, and black pepper. Stir until smooth and well combined.
  4. Fold the chopped spinach gently into the cream cheese mixture, keeping some texture. For a smoother spread, pulse the spinach in a food processor before folding in.
  5. Lay one large tortilla on a clean surface. Spread about 3/4 cup (180 g) of the cream cheese and spinach mixture evenly over the tortilla, leaving a 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) border around the edges.
  6. Roll the tortilla tightly into a log to keep the pinwheels intact.
  7. Using a sharp knife, cut the roll into 1-inch (2.5 cm) thick slices, aiming for 8-10 pinwheels per tortilla. Wipe the knife clean between cuts if needed.
  8. Arrange the pinwheels on a platter and serve immediately or chill for 20-30 minutes to firm up and enhance flavors.

Notes

Use room temperature cream cheese for easy spreading and to prevent tearing the tortilla. Chill the rolled wraps before slicing for neater pinwheels. Avoid overfilling to keep wraps intact. Serrated knife recommended for clean cuts. Can substitute dairy-free cream cheese and gluten-free tortillas for allergy-friendly versions.
