A quick and easy honey garlic glazed salmon recipe that delivers a sweet, savory, and sticky glaze over tender salmon fillets. Perfect for healthy weeknight dinners and packed with flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces / 170 grams each), skin-on or skinless
  • 3 tablespoons honey (raw or local honey preferred)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced fresh
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar as substitute)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Red pepper flakes (optional, a pinch)
  • Green onions or sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together 3 tablespoons honey, 3 minced garlic cloves, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, and 1 tablespoon rice vinegar. Set aside.
  2. Pat the salmon dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  3. Lightly pepper both sides of the salmon fillets.
  4. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a non-stick or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering but not smoking.
  5. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down (if using skin-on) and cook for 4-5 minutes until the skin is crisp and the salmon is cooked about two-thirds through.
  6. Carefully flip the salmon fillets and cook the other side for 2-3 minutes.
  7. Pour the honey garlic glaze over the salmon in the pan and spoon the glaze continuously over the fillets as they cook for another 2 minutes until the glaze thickens and becomes sticky.
  8. Transfer the salmon to a serving plate and let it rest for 1-2 minutes to allow the glaze to set slightly.
  9. Garnish with sliced green onions or sesame seeds if desired and serve.

Notes

If glaze starts to brown too quickly, lower heat and add a splash of water to prevent burning. Pat salmon dry before cooking for a better sear. Avoid overcrowding the pan. Let salmon rest after cooking to lock in juices and set glaze. For oven option, sear then bake at 400°F for 5-7 minutes while brushing glaze.
