A quick and thoughtful DIY snack gift featuring a mix of nuts, seeds, dried fruits, and chocolate, perfect for teachers and easy to customize.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup mixed nuts (almonds, cashews, walnuts)
  • ½ cup roasted pumpkin seeds
  • ½ cup mini pretzels
  • ½ cup dried cranberries
  • ½ cup dark chocolate chips or chunks
  • ¼ cup shredded unsweetened coconut (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  1. Gather your ingredients: Measure out all your nuts, seeds, dried fruit, and chocolate chips. (Approximately 5 minutes)
  2. Toast the nuts and seeds (optional but recommended): Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread nuts and pumpkin seeds on a baking sheet in a single layer and toast for 8-10 minutes, stirring halfway through. Allow to cool before mixing.
  3. Mix the dry ingredients: In a large bowl, combine toasted nuts and seeds with mini pretzels, dried cranberries, chocolate chips, shredded coconut, cinnamon, and sea salt. Stir gently but thoroughly. (About 3 minutes)
  4. Fill the mason jars: Using a spoon or funnel, pack the trail mix into mason jars, leaving about ½ inch of space at the top to prevent crushing the chocolate. (Approximately 5 minutes)
  5. Add the finishing touch: Seal jars with lids, then tie on a gift tag with twine or ribbon.

Notes

Toast nuts and seeds carefully to avoid burning. Add chocolate chips last to prevent melting. Store sealed jars in a cool, dry place for up to 3 weeks. For longer storage, freeze jars without lids for up to 2 months. Customize ingredients to dietary needs or preferences.
