Easy Parchment Sling for Perfect Brownies

easy parchment sling - featured image

A simple step-by-step guide to using a parchment sling for effortlessly lifting and cutting perfect brownies without breaking them.

Ingredients

  • Parchment paper (good-quality, non-stick)
  • Butter or non-stick spray (for greasing the pan)
  • Kitchen scissors or a sharp knife
  • Optional: Ruler or measuring tape

Instructions

  1. Measure the length and width of your baking pan. For an 8×8 inch pan, cut two strips of parchment paper about 16 inches long each, allowing an extra 4 inches on each side for sling handles.
  2. Cut the two strips of parchment paper carefully using scissors or a sharp knife. Folding the parchment once and cutting both strips at the same time is optional.
  3. Lightly grease your baking pan with butter or non-stick spray to help the parchment stick and prevent slipping.
  4. Place one parchment strip lengthwise in the pan with the extra ends hanging over the sides. Place the second strip widthwise, creating a cross with overlapping strips in the middle.
  5. Press the parchment gently into the corners and sides of the pan to fit snugly.
  6. Pour your prepared brownie batter into the pan and spread evenly with a spatula or offset spatula.
  7. Bake according to your brownie recipe’s instructions. Once done, remove the pan from the oven and let cool on a wire rack for 20-30 minutes.
  8. Lift the brownies out by grabbing the parchment ends on two opposite sides. Use a knife or offset spatula to loosen edges if needed.
  9. Place the brownie block on a cutting board and slice into desired sizes.

Notes

Use fresh parchment paper for best results. Lightly grease the pan before placing parchment to prevent slipping. Let brownies cool completely before lifting to avoid crumbling. For larger pans like 9×13 inches, cut longer parchment strips with extra length for handles. You can also use foil with non-stick spray if parchment is unavailable.
