Instructions

  1. Gather your ingredients and mug. Ensure the mug is dry and microwave-safe.
  2. In the mug, combine 4 tablespoons of all-purpose flour, 3 tablespoons granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/4 teaspoon baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Stir with a fork or small whisk to break up lumps and blend evenly (about 1 minute).
  3. Add 3 tablespoons milk, 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract. Stir gently until smooth and homogenous (1-2 minutes). Avoid overmixing.
  4. Optionally, sprinkle or fold in 1 tablespoon chocolate chips or chunks.
  5. Microwave on high for 60 to 75 seconds. Start with 60 seconds and add 10-second increments if needed. The cake should rise and look set but still moist on top.
