These tri-layered red, white, and blue jello shots topped with whipped cream are a quick, easy, and festive treat perfect for patriotic celebrations like the Fourth of July. The creamy white layer with sweetened condensed milk adds a smooth texture that balances the fruity gelatin layers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) red flavored gelatin (like strawberry or cherry)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold vodka (or substitute with cold water for a non-alcoholic version)
  • 1 package (1/4 oz / 7 g) unflavored gelatin powder
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold water
  • 1 cup (240 ml) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold vodka (or water for mocktail)
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) blue flavored gelatin (blue raspberry or blueberry)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold vodka (or cold water)
  • Whipped cream (homemade or store-bought) to garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Red Layer: Dissolve 1 package of red flavored gelatin in 1 cup boiling water. Stir for about 2 minutes until fully dissolved. Add 1/2 cup cold vodka and stir gently. Pour into shot cups filling about one-third full. Chill in refrigerator for 30 minutes or until firm but slightly tacky.
  2. Make the White Layer: Sprinkle unflavored gelatin over 1/2 cup cold water and let bloom for 5 minutes. Warm the bloomed gelatin over low heat until dissolved (do not boil). Stir sweetened condensed milk with 1/2 cup cold vodka in a bowl. Slowly add dissolved gelatin to milk mixture, whisking continuously. Pour gently over red layer to avoid mixing colors. Chill for 30 minutes until set.
  3. Prepare the Blue Layer: Dissolve blue gelatin in 1 cup boiling water, stir well, add 1/2 cup cold vodka. Once white layer is firm, carefully pour blue gelatin over it. Chill for at least 1 hour until completely set.
  4. Add Whipped Cream Topping: Just before serving, pipe or spoon a generous dollop of whipped cream on top of each jello shot. Optionally sprinkle edible glitter or red and blue sugar crystals.
  5. Serving: Keep refrigerated until serving. Best enjoyed within 24 hours for freshest texture.

Notes

Bloom unflavored gelatin properly to avoid grainy texture. Let each layer set until firm but slightly tacky before adding the next to prevent color mixing. Pour layers slowly over the back of a spoon to keep layers neat. For stable whipped cream topping, add powdered sugar and vanilla extract or use stabilized whipped cream. Store covered in fridge up to 2 days; avoid freezing.
