Flavorful Brussels Sprouts Recipe with Bacon and Cranberries

  • 1 pound Brussels sprouts, halved
  • 6 slices thick-cut bacon
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze (optional)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Wash and dry the Brussels sprouts, trim the ends, and slice them in half. Place them in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Drizzle 2 tablespoons of olive oil over the sprouts. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste, tossing to coat evenly.
  4. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the bacon slices and cook until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the bacon and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Reserve about 1 tablespoon of the bacon grease in the skillet.
  5. Spread the seasoned Brussels sprouts in a single layer on the lined baking sheet. Roast for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and slightly crispy.
  6. In the same skillet with reserved bacon grease, add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds. Add the cranberries and 1 tablespoon of honey (or maple syrup). Cook over medium heat until the cranberries soften and start to burst, about 3-4 minutes.
  7. Chop the cooked bacon into bite-sized pieces. Remove the roasted Brussels sprouts from the oven and transfer them to a serving platter. Top with the sautéed cranberries and chopped bacon.
  8. Optional: Drizzle balsamic glaze over the dish for added sweetness and visual appeal.
  9. Serve immediately while warm.
