  • 1 tablespoon (12g) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon (6g) salt
  • ½ cup (120ml) warm milk
  • 4 tablespoons (60g) melted unsalted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon (5g) finely chopped parsley

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix 2 ¼ teaspoons (7g) active dry yeast with 1 tablespoon (12g) granulated sugar and ½ cup (120ml) warm milk. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl or stand mixer, combine 3 ½ cups (440g) all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon (6g) salt, and the frothy yeast mixture. Add 1 large egg and 4 tablespoons (60g) melted unsalted butter.
  3. Mix until a dough starts to form. Knead for 8-10 minutes by hand or 5 minutes using a dough hook on medium speed. The dough should be smooth and slightly sticky but not wet.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
  5. After the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a smooth ball and place them on a greased or lined baking sheet, leaving enough space for them to expand.
  6. Cover the rolls with a kitchen towel and let them rise again for 30-40 minutes. They should double in size again.
  7. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Once the rolls have risen, bake them for 18-22 minutes or until golden brown on top.
  8. While the rolls bake, prepare the garlic butter. Melt 4 tablespoons (60g) unsalted butter in a small saucepan. Add 3 cloves garlic, minced, and cook until fragrant—about 1-2 minutes. Stir in 1 tablespoon (5g) finely chopped parsley.
  9. Immediately brush the hot rolls with the garlic butter glaze after removing them from the oven. Serve warm and enjoy!
