  • 1 cup mango, diced (choose a sweet, fragrant variety)
  • 1 cup watermelon cubes (seedless for ease)
  • 1 cup papaya, diced (optional, for extra tropical flavor)
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 1 kiwi, peeled and sliced
  • 3 tablespoons honey (raw, local preferred)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (about 1 large lime)
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon Tajin seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon coarse sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Carefully peel and dice the pineapple into 1-inch chunks. Dice the mango and papaya (if using) into similar-sized pieces. Cube the watermelon, halve the strawberries, and slice the kiwi. Combine all fruit in a large mixing bowl.
  2. In a small bowl or jar, whisk together honey, fresh lime juice, lime zest, and salt until well combined and smooth.
  3. Pour the honey lime dressing over the fruit and gently toss with a large spoon or spatula, making sure each piece is lightly coated but not drenched.
  4. On a small plate, mix Tajin seasoning with coarse sea salt (if using). Moisten the rim of serving bowls with a lime wedge or a little water, then dip each rim into the Tajin mixture to coat evenly.
  5. Serve the salad immediately for maximum crispness or chill for 20-30 minutes to let flavors meld. Toss lightly again before serving if chilled.

Notes

Use ripe but firm fruit to avoid mushiness. Dress the salad just before serving to prevent excess juice. If chilling, toss gently before serving. Lime juice or water works best to moisten bowl rims for Tajin to stick. Honey can be substituted with maple syrup for a vegan option. Tajin can be replaced with chili powder mixed with lime zest and salt if unavailable.
