  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup red, pink, and white M&Ms
  • Optional: 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy and smooth (about 2-3 minutes). Add the egg and vanilla extract, then mix until fully incorporated.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Slowly add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Mix on low speed until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in the Valentine-themed M&Ms and chocolate chips (if using) using a spatula.
  6. Use a cookie scoop or spoon to scoop out portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers will look slightly underbaked.
  8. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
