Instructions

  1. Prepare your frozen bananas: Peel and slice 3 large ripe bananas and freeze them for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Blend the base: In a high-speed blender or food processor, add the frozen banana slices (about 3 cups or 360 grams) with 1/4 cup (60 ml) of almond milk. Pulse until the bananas start breaking down. Scrape down the sides to keep everything moving smoothly.
  3. Add flavorings: Toss in 2 tablespoons (15 grams) of unsweetened cocoa powder, 2 tablespoons (32 grams) almond butter, 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract, and 1 tablespoon (15 ml) maple syrup if you want it sweeter. Blend again until super smooth and creamy, about 1-2 minutes. Add a splash more almond milk if needed, but not too much.
  4. Check texture and taste: The nice cream should be thick but scoopable, like soft-serve ice cream. Taste and adjust sweetness or cocoa if needed. A pinch of salt can help balance flavors.
  5. Serve immediately or chill: Spoon the nice cream into bowls. Top with sliced fresh strawberries, chopped dark chocolate, and a sprinkle of chia seeds or crushed nuts. For a firmer texture, chill in the freezer for 20-30 minutes before serving.
