A quick and easy breakfast bowl combining creamy cottage cheese, fresh orange segments, and crunchy cookies for a delightful mix of textures and flavors. Perfect for Valentine’s Day or any special morning treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (225g) small-curd cottage cheese
  • 1 large orange, peeled and segmented (Valencia or Navel recommended)
  • 34 cookies, roughly chopped (shortbread, biscotti, or chocolate chip)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of ground cinnamon (optional)
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the orange by peeling it with a sharp knife, removing all white pith, and segmenting it by cutting between the membranes to release clean slices (about 5 minutes).
  2. Optional: Blend 1 cup (225g) of small-curd cottage cheese in a blender for 15-20 seconds until creamy but not watery for a smoother texture.
  3. Transfer the cottage cheese to a medium bowl, add ½ teaspoon vanilla extract and a pinch of ground cinnamon, and stir gently to combine.
  4. Roughly chop 3-4 cookies into bite-sized pieces, keeping them chunky for crunch.
  5. Assemble the bowl by spooning the flavored cottage cheese as the base, topping with orange segments, then sprinkling cookie pieces evenly over everything.
  6. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of honey or maple syrup over the top if extra sweetness is desired (optional).
  7. Garnish with fresh mint leaves and serve immediately for best texture contrast.

Notes

Add cookie pieces just before serving to keep them crunchy. If cottage cheese is too thick, stir in a teaspoon of milk or orange juice to loosen. Use small-curd cottage cheese for best texture. Peeling orange carefully avoids bitterness from pith. Variations include swapping oranges for berries or cookies for nuts.
