Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats - featured image

These irresistible treats combine creamy peanut butter, crunchy Rice Krispies, and a luscious chocolate swirl for a nostalgic yet exciting dessert that’s dangerously easy to make.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 cup peanut butter (creamy or chunky)
  • 10 ounces marshmallows (mini or regular)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (or coconut oil for dairy-free)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet, milk, or dark)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×13-inch pan with butter or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the marshmallows and stir constantly until fully melted and smooth. Lower the heat and stir in the peanut butter until well combined.
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat and immediately fold in the Rice Krispies cereal. Stir gently but quickly to ensure the cereal is evenly coated without crushing it.
  4. Press the mixture into the prepared pan using a greased spatula or clean hands. Aim for an even layer, but don’t press too hard to avoid making the treats dense.
  5. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips in 20-second intervals, stirring between each. Once smooth, drizzle or swirl the chocolate over the Rice Krispie mixture in the pan.
  6. Let the pan cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes or refrigerate for faster setting. Once firm, cut the treats into squares or rectangles. Enjoy!

Notes

[‘Don’t overheat the marshmallows to avoid a hard and brittle texture.’, ‘Work quickly to mix the cereal before the marshmallow mixture sets.’, ‘Lightly grease your spatula and hands to prevent sticking.’, ‘Use a toothpick or skewer to create intricate swirls in the melted chocolate for a pretty presentation.’, ‘For uniform squares, use a ruler or guide when cutting.’]
