Soft, chewy, and packed with festive flavors, these Christmas chocolate chip cookies are a holiday staple perfect for sharing or enjoying with a cozy cup of hot cocoa.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups Christmas-themed chocolate chips
  • Optional add-ins: chopped nuts, shredded coconut, or crushed candy canes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line your baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar using a hand or stand mixer. Mix until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined. Avoid overmixing—it can make the cookies tough.
  6. Fold in the Christmas-themed chocolate chips using a silicone spatula. Be gentle to ensure the festive colors stay intact.
  7. Scoop the dough into rounded tablespoons and place them on the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches of space between each cookie.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are slightly golden. The centers should look soft but set.
  9. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack.
  10. Serve warm or store in an airtight container once cooled completely.

Notes

Chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking for thicker cookies. Use room-temperature ingredients for a smoother dough and avoid overbaking for soft and chewy cookies.
