A festive and elegant patriotic charcuterie board featuring star-shaped cheeses, fresh fruits, savory meats, and crunchy nuts, perfect for Fourth of July celebrations and casual backyard gatherings.

Ingredients

  • Goat cheese (soft, creamy, for spreading)
  • Sharp cheddar (cut into star shapes)
  • Blue cheese crumbles (optional)
  • Smoked salami slices
  • Prosciutto (thinly sliced)
  • Watermelon (cut into stars with a cookie cutter)
  • Fresh blueberries
  • Fresh raspberries
  • Cherries, pitted
  • Toasted pecans or almonds
  • Artisan crackers
  • Fresh mint leaves
  • Honey or light drizzle of balsamic glaze
  • Olives (green and black mix, optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse and pat dry the watermelon, blueberries, raspberries, and cherries. Using a star-shaped cookie cutter, press into the watermelon slices to create star shapes. Pit the cherries carefully, leaving them whole.
  2. Slice the cheddar into approximately 1/4-inch (6 mm) thick slices and use the cookie cutter to create cheddar stars. Crumble the blue cheese if using, and set aside the goat cheese.
  3. Fold or roll the salami and prosciutto slices into loose rosettes or simple folds.
  4. Lightly toast pecans or almonds in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3-4 minutes until fragrant. Lay out artisan crackers on the board or in small piles.
  5. Arrange the larger items—cheese stars, watermelon stars, and meat rosettes—spaced evenly on the board. Fill in gaps with berries, cherries, nuts, and olives in small piles or scattered clusters. Add small bowls of honey or balsamic glaze for dipping and drizzle.
  6. Tuck fresh mint leaves throughout the board for pops of green and added aroma. Drizzle honey lightly over the goat cheese and watermelon stars if desired.
  7. Check for empty spots and add more berries or nuts to fill in and balance colors. Aim for an abundant but not overcrowded look.

Notes

Cut watermelon stars just before serving to keep them firm and juicy. Toast nuts carefully to avoid burning. Use kitchen tweezers for precise placement of small berries or herbs. For dairy-free or vegan versions, substitute cheeses and meats accordingly. Keep crackers separate until serving to avoid sogginess.
