Ingredients

Scale
  • Red Layer: 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) strawberry or cherry flavored gelatin (Jell-O or similar brand)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold water
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka (smooth, neutral brand like Tito’s or Smirnoff)
  • White Layer: 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) unflavored gelatin powder
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka
  • 1 cup (240 ml) coconut milk (full fat; can substitute heavy cream or whole milk)
  • 2 tbsp (25 g) sugar (optional)
  • Blue Layer: 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) blueberry or raspberry flavored gelatin (blueberry preferred)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold water
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka
  • Optional Decoration: Fresh blueberries and sliced strawberries for garnish
  • Star-shaped silicone molds or standard mini cups

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Red Layer: In a heatproof bowl, dissolve 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) of strawberry or cherry gelatin in 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water. Stir well with a whisk until completely dissolved (about 2 minutes). Add 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold water and 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka. Stir gently to combine.
  2. Pour and Chill the Red Layer: Pour the red gelatin mixture into molds or shot cups, filling about one-third full. Refrigerate and chill for 30-45 minutes, or until firm but slightly tacky to the touch.
  3. Prepare the White Layer: While the red layer chills, sprinkle 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) unflavored gelatin over 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water in a separate bowl. Let it bloom for 2 minutes, then stir until fully dissolved. Add 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka, 1 cup (240 ml) coconut milk, and 2 tbsp sugar (optional). Whisk to combine thoroughly.
  4. Add the White Layer: Once the red layer is tacky, carefully pour the white layer over it, filling molds another one-third full. Chill again for 30-45 minutes until set but still slightly tacky.
  5. Prepare the Blue Layer: Dissolve 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) blueberry gelatin in 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water. Stir until clear. Add 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold water and 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka, mixing gently.
  6. Add the Blue Layer: Pour the blue gelatin mixture over the white layer, filling to the top. Chill for at least 2 hours or overnight until fully set and firm.
  7. Unmold and Serve: Gently pop the jello shots out of the silicone molds or peel away the plastic cups. Garnish with fresh blueberries and strawberry slices if desired.

Notes

Timing is crucial: pour each layer when the previous one is tacky but not fully firm to prevent mixing colors. Pour slowly over the back of a spoon to avoid disturbing layers. Use cold water and vodka to cool gelatin before pouring. Let shots chill completely for best texture. Non-alcoholic version can be made by substituting vodka with sparkling water. For dairy-free white layer, use coconut or almond milk. Sugar is optional and can be adjusted or omitted.
