Make bold, undiluted iced coffee easily at home with these refreshing coffee ice cubes. Simple to prepare and perfect for any occasion, these cubes keep your coffee chilled without watering it down.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (480 ml) freshly brewed coffee (dark or medium roast)
  • 12 tablespoons (1224 grams) sugar or sweetener (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon (2.5 ml) pure vanilla extract (optional)
  • Milk or cream (optional, for adding before freezing or after thawing)

Instructions

  1. Brew 2 cups (480 ml) of freshly brewed coffee, slightly stronger than usual for a bolder flavor. Allow the coffee to cool to room temperature.
  2. While the coffee is still warm, stir in 1-2 tablespoons (12-24 grams) of sugar or sweetener until fully dissolved. Add ½ teaspoon (2.5 ml) of pure vanilla extract if desired.
  3. Carefully fill ice cube trays or silicone molds with the cooled coffee, leaving a small gap at the top for expansion during freezing.
  4. Place trays on a level surface in the freezer. Freeze for at least 4-6 hours or overnight for best results. Optionally cover trays loosely with plastic wrap to avoid freezer smells.
  5. Once frozen solid, pop the coffee ice cubes out and store them in a freezer-safe bag or airtight container.
  6. To serve, drop a handful of coffee ice cubes into a glass and pour over cold milk, cream, or your favorite iced coffee mix.

Notes

Let coffee cool before freezing to avoid cloudy or cracked cubes. Use stronger brewed coffee for bolder flavor. Cover trays loosely to prevent freezer odors. Store cubes in airtight containers for up to 2 months. Adding milk before freezing may change cube texture.
