A light, floral, and crisp summer cocktail featuring fresh cucumber, elderflower liqueur, gin, and sparkling water. Perfect for brunches, garden parties, or unwinding on warm evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ fresh English cucumber, thinly sliced or lightly muddled
  • 1 oz (30 ml) elderflower liqueur (St-Germain recommended)
  • 1.5 oz (45 ml) citrus-forward gin (e.g., Hendrick’s or Bombay Sapphire)
  • 3 oz (90 ml) sparkling water or club soda
  • Juice of ½ fresh lime (about 15 ml or ½ oz)
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh mint or cucumber ribbons for garnish

Instructions

  1. Slice about ¼-inch thick rounds from half a fresh English cucumber. Reserve a few thin ribbons for garnish using a vegetable peeler. Place 4-5 slices in your glass.
  2. Using a muddler or the back of a wooden spoon, press the cucumber slices lightly for 10-15 seconds to release juice and aroma without crushing to a pulp.
  3. Squeeze the juice of half a lime (about 15 ml or ½ oz) into the glass.
  4. Measure and pour 1 oz (30 ml) elderflower liqueur into the glass. Adjust to taste if you prefer it less sweet.
  5. Pour in 1.5 oz (45 ml) of your preferred citrus-forward gin. Stir gently with a bar spoon to combine without losing fizz.
  6. Add enough ice cubes to fill the glass about three-quarters full.
  7. Slowly pour 3 oz (90 ml) of chilled sparkling water or club soda over the ice to keep bubbles lively.
  8. Garnish with a few cucumber ribbons and a sprig of fresh mint or edible elderflower if available. Serve immediately.

Notes

Do not over-muddle the cucumber to avoid bitterness and cloudiness. Use fresh lime juice for brightness. Chill all ingredients beforehand to keep the drink refreshing. Stir gently to preserve bubbles. For a festive twist, substitute sparkling water with dry sparkling wine or prosecco and reduce gin slightly. Non-alcoholic version can be made by replacing gin and elderflower liqueur with elderflower syrup and cucumber-infused sparkling water.
