A quick and easy frozen lemonade slushie blending fresh strawberries, basil, and lemon juice for a perfect summer drink that’s sweet, tangy, and refreshingly herbal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 1/4 cup packed fresh basil leaves
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 23 tablespoons honey or agave syrup
  • 2 cups ice cubes
  • Optional: mint leaves for garnish
  • Optional: sparkling water to top off for fizz

Instructions

  1. Rinse and hull about 1 1/2 cups of fresh strawberries. Tear or chop the basil leaves to release their oils.
  2. Roll the lemons on the counter to loosen the juice, then cut and juice them until you have 1/2 cup of fresh lemon juice. Strain out any seeds.
  3. Add strawberries, basil, lemon juice, 1 cup cold water, and 2-3 tablespoons honey or agave syrup to the blender.
  4. Start blending on low speed, then gradually increase to high. Stop and scrape down the sides if needed to ensure everything is well mixed.
  5. Add about 2 cups of ice cubes and blend until the mixture turns into a thick, slushie consistency. Avoid overblending to keep the icy texture.
  6. Taste and adjust sweetness by adding more honey or lemon juice if needed. Blend briefly again if you add more sweetener.
  7. Pour into glasses, garnish with a sprig of basil or mint if desired, and serve immediately for the best icy texture.

Notes

Bruise or tear basil leaves before blending to avoid bitterness. Use freshly squeezed lemon juice for best flavor. If the slushie thickens too much while sitting, stir in a splash of cold water and blend briefly to loosen it. For a fizzy twist, add sparkling water just before serving.
