A vibrant and refreshing lemonade blending tart lemon juice, sweet pineapple, and nutrient-rich blue spirulina powder. Perfect for summer, this drink is quick to make and offers a tropical twist on classic lemonade.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (240 ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 1 cup (165 g) fresh pineapple chunks (or canned pineapple, drained)
  • 1 teaspoon blue spirulina powder
  • 4 cups (960 ml) cold water
  • 23 tablespoons (3045 ml) honey, agave syrup, or simple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • Ice cubes as needed
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish or muddling)

Instructions

  1. Roll lemons on the counter, cut in half, and juice to extract about 1 cup (240 ml) fresh lemon juice. Set aside.
  2. Cut fresh pineapple into chunks, about 1 cup (165 g). If using canned pineapple, drain well.
  3. In a blender, combine pineapple chunks, lemon juice, 1 teaspoon blue spirulina powder, and 2 tablespoons (30 ml) sweetener. Blend on high for 30-45 seconds until smooth and vibrant blue.
  4. Pour the blended mixture into a large pitcher. Add 4 cups (960 ml) cold water and stir well to combine. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
  5. Add ice cubes to the pitcher or individual glasses. Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired. Serve immediately.
  6. If spirulina powder settles, stir gently before serving.

Notes

Measure spirulina carefully to avoid a strong seaweed taste. Use fresh lemon juice for best flavor. Chill water and pineapple beforehand for a crisper drink. Stir before serving if spirulina settles. Mint leaves can be muddled gently for extra aroma but avoid bitterness.
