This Texas Chocolate Pecan Pie combines gooey, crunchy pecans with rich chocolate for a decadent Southern dessert perfect for holidays or any special occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup dark corn syrup
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 cups pecan halves or pieces
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare your pie crust: If using a store-bought crust, fit it into your pie dish and crimp the edges. If making homemade, roll out the dough and gently press it into the dish. Chill in the fridge while you make the filling.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the corn syrup, sugar, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth. The mixture should be glossy and thick.
  4. Stir in the chocolate chips and pecans until evenly distributed.
  5. Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust, spreading it evenly. The pecans will naturally rise to the top, creating a beautiful layer.
  6. Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until the filling is set and no longer jiggles in the center. Cover the edges with aluminum foil or a pie shield if the crust starts to brown too much.
  7. Remove from the oven and let the pie cool completely on a wire rack. The filling will firm up as it cools.
  8. Slice and serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for the ultimate dessert experience.

Notes

[‘Use high-quality chocolate chips for the best flavor.’, ‘Choose fresh, plump pecans for the best texture.’, ‘Allow the pie to cool completely before slicing to ensure the filling sets properly.’, ‘Store leftovers in the fridge for up to five days or freeze for up to three months.’]
